Rats and mice are mammals in the Rodentia species. The mouse is typically a smaller rodent when compared to the rat. Rats tend to be larger in size with long tails. The brown rat (also called) sewer rats can go up to 28 cm in length when fully mature. They have spread on all continent except for Antarctica. In the context of an urban are or city, we can say that brown rats are found wherever human are located.
Infestation Origin:
Mice and rats are explorers, they’re always on the lookout for food, shelter, source of water. Your home or your business can become a target along their way of exploring. They are attracted to areas where food is served. The brown rat is an omnivore and will consume almost anything at his disposal. They typically hide between walls, pantries, cupboards, old boxes, and other similar cool and dark areas where they would not be disturbed. If a rat has made is shelter close to your bedroom, it might crawl over you in bed at night and that might bring some serious health concerns as they can carry many diseases.
Infestation Preventive Care:
To prevent mices and rats and other rodents infestations; Keep waste and compost food in a lock container, avoid lettered crumbs, uncover trash and left overs. Beware to close every possible source of entry, as they will try to find shelter when approaching colder seasons. Mice and rats are very agile mammals, they can get through any small hole. If you disturb a rat nest, the occupant can feel threatened and become aggressive towards human. Usually, they don’t leave your house, they simply make another nest in an other area of the house. Most rats will return to the old nest if it’s not disturb. Don’t take any chance and contact a professional exterminator to do the job.
